Jale Sezgin

Jale Sezgin is a Turkish-Danish multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam. Her practice moves between social experimentation, sculpture, and installation-based works. She works with themes rooted in everyday life, things we often overlook, but that reveal how we live together.

She investigates themes related to contemporary social issues and everyday observations, raising questions such as: How do we grasp the macro image of society, knowing that we are all moving in masses? Is there still space for something genuine, or are we just caught in imitated trends?

Her approach is experimental, working through physical, interactive, and open-ended forms that invite the viewer to slow down, reflect, and participate. Through the use of objects and spatial compositions, she creates experiences that invite people to engage directly, both physically and emotionally. These encounters aim to offer moments for reflecting on the larger systems that shape us from within.

This process often opens up space for the rediscovery of culture, folklore, collective memory, and ancestral knowledge. More and more, her practice is moving toward exploring how knowledge is passed down through stories, rituals, and shared traditions, and how these can be reactivated or reimagined in today's world.
